My name is Millie and I am 6 years old. When I was 4 years old my Grandad was diagnosed with Leukaemia and passed away after a short time. I loved my Grandad so much and wanted to do something to help. So my first charity was a 1km run. Then when I was 5 years old I dedided to do a 1 mile swim for sports relief and then at 6 years old I raised money for Help 4 Heroes by swimming 2 miles, it was very difficult but I was determined to complete it in full, which I did. I am training very hard at the moment. I am swimming 6 days a week 2 hours a day, this is to help me with my next challenge. I am taking part in a Virtual Channel Swim with three other swimmers. We are All going to swim a minimum of 320 lengths of 25m pool 5 miles .
The Virtual Channel swim will take place on 2nd April 2011 at David Lloyds Leisure south.
I am doing this to help raise funds for Diabetes! Please please support Diabetes UK by donating.
I love my family and my friends very much and want to do what I can to help some of them who suffer with an illness .
Also I like to help with local charities like the Renal clinic at HeartLands Hospital where my grandad recieves treatment for kidney failure. The staff are wonderful and help make a big difference to my grandads care, x With lots of help from them he can do his dialysis at home, I have been raising money since Christmas and so far have £230.00
I have also been asked by my lifesaving club to help raise funds for a spinal board. So far I have raised £340.00
I have completed my sponsor swim for my lifesaving club and managed to swim 82 lengths in one hour. So now I can concentrate on my virtual channel swim! Thankyou to all who helped me to raise the funds. total £362.00
Also I want to say that my swimming teacher Jacqui who has cystic fibrosis, she has really inspired me, Jacqui always thinks positive even when she is going through a bad period of health.
A big thankyou to everyone who has supported me in raising money for these charities I couldn`t do it without your help! x x x x
